  • What is the course like?

    +

    The course is best described as rolling hills with some longer steeper climbs. The terrain is made up grass trails, farm tracks, forest paths, and a few small sections of tarmac. In December, the trails will likely be soft, wet, muddy and possibly even frozen.

  • Do I need to have completed a qualifier to enter?

    No qualifier is needed to enter.

  • What are the cut off times?

    +

    The overall cutoff is 12 hours. There are no cutoffs at the first two Aid Stations but are at the last two mile 17.9, cutoff 5pm and mile 24.9, cutoff 7pm.

  • What facilities are at the start and finish?

    +

    There is plenty of free parking, free camping, toilets, showers, a big indoor area, coffee van serving hot food and drinks.

  • Is there parking available?

    Yes, lots of free parking at the racecourse.

  • How do I get there?

    +

    There is Plumpton Train Station literally a 400 meter walk from Race HQ.

    If travelling by road then Plumpton Racecourse is situated on Plumpton Lane only 1.5 miles off the B2116, and 8 miles from the A23, leaving at the Pyecombe services junction. Our signposted main entrance on Plumpton Lane is 200 yards beyond the bridge on the left (coming from Ditching) and 0.5 miles past the train station (coming through Plumpton Green), up the hill on the right.

  • Are there toilets out on the route?

    There are mens and women's toilets at all four Aid Stations out on the route.

  • Is there a Mandatory Kit list?

    +

    Runners must carry the following equipment with them at all times and will be disqualified for failing kit checks. Inspections will take place before, during, and after the race.

    Fully charged mobile phone including the numbers for the Race Medic, Race Director and Event Control which will be printed on your race number..

    Emergency survival blanket or foil blanket.

    Hydration system capable of holding one litre of liquid.

    Whistle

    Waterproof jacket with taped seams and a hood (10,000mm rating minimum)

    Base Layer long sleeved top (Must be carried in your race pack for emergency use and not worn from the start)

    Warm gloves

    Warm hat (Buff not acceptable)

    Headlamp for runners that will still be running after 4pm (300 lumens min. Preferably 900 Lumens) and backup headlamp (200 lumens min) Please be honest with yourself here as you must have lights after this time and will not be allowed to continue without them after leaving the Alfriston Aid Station. Volunteers will ask you to show the headlamp if leaving there after 2pm. If in doubt then please bring them just incase. Please be ready to stop and show these at this Aid Station.

    Spare batteries or charger pack for headlamps

    A high visibility/reflective item that can be seen at night such as rear flashing LED light, high visibility armband, clothing with reflective properties (This is only necessary for those expecting to still be running after 4pm. Please be honest with yourself here as it is very important to have this when running in the dark, especially when crossing and running on the roads. This must be shown at the Alfriston Aid Station also. If you think you will still be running when it gets dark then it is easier to wear this item from the start to save time trying to find it at Alfriston.

    It is not mandatory, but we do suggest you bring waterproof trousers and a foldable cup to drink from as the race will be cup less.

  • How many Aid Stations are there and what will be available?

    There will be 4 very well stocked Aid Stations along the route which are listed below. Aid stations will carry a wide range of food and drink. They will cater for everyone’s needs including vegan, vegetarian and gluten free.

  • Can I have a drop bag along the route and a bag taken to the finish?

    Yes, there is live timing and GPS tracking available to follow the runners. This will be available on the website in the days leading up to the event.

  • Are Crews and Pacers allowed?

    No, crews and pacers are not allowed at this race. Spectators are welcome but must not aid the runner in any way other than cheering them on.

  • What Medical Cover will I get?

    +

    There will be an experienced team of Race Medics available to runners before, during and after the event including First Aid Teams, Response Cars and Ambulances.
